Which one comes first?
Life is a gift from the creator of life itself, and from wherever it comes, it is a whole topic of discussion. Sometimes conflicting following the various schools of thought, religions, and context applicable. However, the most important is that we are alive and have to at least appreciate that.
Every day we strive to live our lives to the best of our desires, or at least that should be the case. But how many are able to achieve that? And those that have done it successfully, what are some of the things that we look at to come to that ruling. You will agree with me that very many people look at the wealth one has created in their lives.
Health or Wealth.
You have enough wealth today; many people will call you a SUCCESS. Why? – it is because you are wealthy. But are you healthy? It is a saying, a common one that, many people use their health in pursuit of wealth and after achieving it, they spend all their wealth trying to gain their health back. Many don’t succeed in that. Is this really the way to go?
Real wealth is in health. We should all put our health first. Look at the many health issues we have today, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure. These are just but a few. We generally refer to them as lifestyle diseases. Many of us have forgotten about our health and all we are after is wealth. It is only until we are in for an operation or a critical health condition that we come back to our senses and start thinking about our health. We all know that prevention is better than cure.
What could you do to achieve good health!
- Seek knowledge
It is easy to deal with something you understand. For understanding, let us read books and journals on health-related issues. Magazines equally have important information on health issues. With better understanding, we will know how to control or prevent these killer diseases.
People should work out on a daily basis. It takes a lot to wake up very early in the morning for a morning run, or road work. But I tell you it is worth it. It is the cheapest way to burn calories, regulate body sugar levels and muscle development.
- Proper nutrition
‘We are what we eat.’ This statement has a lot of insights. We should eat a lot of fruits and vegetables to help build a strong body defense system against disease-causing organisms, such as bacteria and viruses. We should also avoid junk food, excess sugar, and fats.
- Tests and regular check-up
It is important to go for check-ups regularly. This is may help detect some of these diseases at a very early stage and control them before a lot of damage is caused.
Let us all put health first, wealth will follow.
